Stonekit's ears pricked and her eyes got wide. She bounced over, sending a sharp glare at Sunfire, but then smirked knowingly. It would come sooner or later. She sat in front, looking at her leader with vibrant blue eyes. This was exciting! Even if the devil herself was her mentor, she would be gone soon.

Crackedstar watched and waited as the Clan came together under his watchful gaze before continuing. "Stonekit, step forward," the tom called out, searching the crowd for the she-kit. Spotting her, he continued. "Stonekit, you are on your sixth moon and are ready to be made an apprentice. From this moment on, you will be known as Stonepaw." He paused before going on. "Sunfire, you are ready to take on another apprentice. You will mentor to Stonepaw." Crackedstar let his choice sink in, watching his Clan's reaction and especially Cleargaze. "Sunfire, you have shown yourself to be a loyal and fierce warrior. Do all that you can to pass on what you know down to Stonepaw." He lept down the make shift stairs of flat rock, pleased that another cat would train to be a loyal warrior of QuakeClan.

Sunfire nodded her head, knowing that words. She had had an apprentice once upon a time, but while trying to protect Shatteredlegs, she ended up causing more harm then good. A pang of sadness blazed across her face before she mewed gently. "I shall, Crackedstar." Sunfire went over and offered her nose to the obstinate she-kit, her eyes glinting just as knowingly. One day, redemption would come for her, and she would embrace it entirely.
Cleargaze felt her pelt rise, and her heart clench with anger. Sunfire? Of all the cats that he could have chosen to mentor Stonepaw, it had to be Sunfire?! With held-back anger, she lifted her voice with the rest of the Clan. "Stonepaw! Stonepaw! Stonepaw!" The meeting would end then, QuakeClan's leader having dismounted Calling Rock. Cleargaze quickly dashed over to him, biting back a growl. With a hiss, she passed him. "Sunfire? Sunfire! Of all the cats you could have picked. I hope StarClan knows what they are doing."

Stonepaw smiled at her leader and quickly touched noses with her new mentor, and then smiled inocently. She held her tail high, and her eyes blazed intencly. "Why don't we go out now?"She purred inocently again. She wouldn't have to act for long, it would happen soon, she could feel in in her spine. She wouldn't have to stay with her for long. "Thank you Crackedstar."She sat and rapped her tail around her paws gentlly.

"StarClan always knows," Crackedstar replied in a low growl. "I understand that my choice seems unfair to you, but you will have your time," he meowed, trying to keep his voice even. "You are still young, and Sunfire is getting on in moons." He tried to persuade the she-cat to see the reasoning, but he didn't have much. It was a choice made on StarClan's will, and he could do no more.

There was no reasoning behind Crackedstar's choice. He could not even read StarClan's choice it seemed, and it seemed even more unfair to overload Sunfire, a hissy-fit she-cat, when she should be retiring to the elder's den soon. Cleargaze was still unhappy about the outcome, but the anger was more directed at Sunfire herself, and less at Crackedstar. She could rarely stay made at Crackedstar for long. Glowering with pure rage, she turned around, tail drifting about until she was on the other side of the clearing, sharpening her claws on a nearby flat stone. Sunfire doesn't deserve Stonekit. She'll ruin her!
Sunfire knew that the nose touch was a little less then awkward for the both of them, having already gone out on the wrong paw. Of course, the apprentice's eagerness to get started on her training lifted Sunfire's spirits. "Of course! I'll take you to go look at the FloodClan border. We'll start out with the easy stuff first, and then we'll get you into the hunting and fighting techniques." Sunfire seemed genuinely excited this time for having a second chance to redeem herself. "Why don't you grab some fresh-kill first, and then we'll get going."

Stonepaw smiled inocently and got to her paws quickly, turning around, until her face was hidden, and she turned the smile into a deep frown filled with hate. Stupid hissy-fit she-cat! Stonepaw's long claws slid out and she hissed quietly, before picking up a peice of fresh kill, a plump pidgon, and sat down and took hasty bites from it. She licked her lips clean when she was doe, growled quietly, got up, smiled as she turned and walked back.

Sunfire understood that Stonepaw would get used to her over time, and although she could tell that Stonepaw was putting on an act, at least she could appreciate that she was simply hiding her hate for the tabby warrior. A flick of her tail was given, nothing more of that happiness. "All fed? Good. Shall we get going? There are plenty of places to explore, and we may as well start out soon so we can get along the border."
Cleargaze watched with those sharp eyes of her, scratching at the rock incessantly. It was almost as if she were pretending that she was maiming a creature happily. Joyously. A secret bloodlust.

Stonepaw nodded silently and walked with stiff legs behind her mentor, her smile still in place, but it was also stiff. She realy didn't like the warrior. She should have been called venomtong instread of the happy go lucky Sunfire. Her eyes blazed intesly, and she frowned. What a horrible day this would be, trotting around with the annoying she-cat with no life other than to pester poor kits.

Crackedstar sighed and padded over to Cleargaze, willing himself to keep a cool head about the matter. "Cleargaze, don't take it so personally," he meowed to her gruffly, trying to get her to calm down about not having her first apprentice. Although, if it was he that was denied an apprentice, he would've been far worse in temper.
