FireClan Camp FireClan camp is in a clearing surrounding by upright trees that have grown tall from the Great Fire that ravaged their forest. Directly in front of the entrance stands a small sapling, stands a large Redwood, the roots pulled apart by the paws of StarClan to produce the leader's den. Above the leader's den, a low hanging branch is used for clan meetings. To the right of the leader's den the Medicine Cat's den can be located. The Medicine Cat uses the roots to hide her stores. Further to the right sits the apprentice den, built up with brambles and underbrush that the Clan found in the forest. The warrior's den is next to the apprentice den, built up with thicker and sharper brambles as it guards the main entrance to the Clan. To the left of the leader's den, the elder's den sit in front of a fall log. Built up with brambles and plenty of moss to keep the heat in, the elder's are well protected. Finally, next to the elder's den, the nursery is built in the same way that the warrior's den was built.[/center] ((Picture coming soon))

Duskstar shifted in her nest, the early morning light filtered into the den and placed itself on her back. The strange warmth was enough to wake the she-cat up from her slumber.
Her jaws parted in a yawn and she sat up. The camp sounded quiet, but she was sure somebody was up already. Stretching, the rose to her paws and then padded out of the leader's den.

Mouserun came padding into the camp, having gone on an early hunting patrol with a few other warriors. Clearly, he was the first one back. The older gray tom, with his head held high, trotted over to the fresh-kill pile, dropping it down on the rest of the meager prey that Leafbare provided. Turning slightly, he stared around the camp. It was a little quiet for him, but the peace had crossed the territories and into the open paws of all the warriors. Of course, patrols still went out normally and each clan guarded their territory protectively, but no skirmishes had broken out of recent. Quietly, he moved off to the side, purring a little bird song to himself.

It was early morning, with the lights seeping through the branches, shining on those deep in slumber. The sun was shining through the trees surrounding the hollow, and birds were tweeting. One certain birds tweet was cut off with a sick sounding cry, followed by silence. An early patrol had caught it. The sun was sending out rays of light, which bounced off of trees and puddles alight, glowing up the forest. Mice were scurrying around, taking advantage of cats laziness, despite the cold. Running to burrows with nuts in their pouches, they dove in, still wary. Not all cats were sleeping. The occasional cat was padding in and out of the hollow, but for most it was quiet in the camps clearing. The leader seemed to be in their den, along with the medicine cat. She padded around anxiously, worrying about the weather. It was getting colder. And she was running low on herbs. Padding out of her den, shaking out her pelt, she glanced around, before smiling as a warrior brought in prey. Good to know that they were still prospering. She sat down by the entrance to her den, tail wrapped around paws daintily, soaking up the early morning sun.

Her paws hit the soft dirt that blanketed the clearing. Sun fell on her ginger pelt which gave the effect that it was on fire. Her soft golden eyes glided over the camp and she quickly caught the white pelt of her Medicine cat, Snowfeather and the gray pelt of one of her warriors, Mouserun. She waved her tail in greeting to both cats, whether they saw this or not.
She padded to the middle of the clearing and noted the low fresh-kill pile. Maybe I'll go hunting today... she thought to herself. It had been a while since she had tasted the blood of a fresh kill.

Mouserun lifted his plain gaze up just as Duskstar and Snowfeather came wandering into the clearing. He waved his tail lightly in reply with a respectful nod towards his leader before standing up and wandering closer to the fresh-kill pile. Although it was low, the clan had to eat. He would most likely go out hunting again today. Picking up the fresh mouse that he had brought in, he wandered over to Snowfeather, placing it at her feet. The older warrior felt somewhat bad that the she-cat was so young with some many responsibilities. He had known her mentor very well, and her passing was depressing. Fallingblossom had been a wonderful medicine cat to their clan. "Something for you to eat Snowfeather? Or would you like me to do something else in service of our young medicine cat?"

She was busy thinking to herself about her depleted supplies, when a meow was heard. Glancing up, from the warriors paws, she looked him in the face. A mouse was placed at her feet, and she could already smell its sweet scents wafting up towards her nose. How much she wanted to eat it. But she knew she shouldn't and so stood, gently pushing it away. “I can't.” She told him. “Why don't you feed it to the kits?” She asked, curiously. She knew she was one of the few lucky enough to be guaranteed food in the times of none, but she felt it was wrong. She could handle it. If needed, there were always some herbs which she had which could fill an empty belly. Of course, if those didn't deplete all the way either. “Actually, there is something I could use some help with.” She told him. “I'm running low on herbs, and am hoping I could find a warrior to help me go find them and carry them back. Know a warrior which would be interested?” She asked him.

Ooc; Hey Nikki, when your cat talks, could you put it in a different color, or bold it? And when they are thinking put that in italics. =D

Mouserun did not plan on taking the prey away from the medicine cat. The only kit that was present in the nursery was Flamekit, and he was old enough to get his own prey if he was hungry. The tom-kit was soon to be apprenticed and needed to now learn that not everything would be handed to him. The warrior simply nudged the mouse closer to Snowfeather, shaking his head politely. "Flamekit will be able to get his own food Snowfeather, as I know that you certainly can as well. Let's call this one of his lesson for his soon to be training. On the paw you need a warrior to help gather herbs, I shall come with you when you are finished eating. Let me just check that Duskstar does not need me for anything else." Mouserun ducked his head politely before padding away to their leader. "Good morning Duskstar. If you don't have anything imminent for me to do, I was going to help Snowfeather collect herbs."

“I know.” She argued with him. “But what if there isn't enough prey for him to even get something?” She asked. She worried for the kit, being the only one. Some may argue that it was a good thing, being many less mouths to feed- which in this case, it also was. But as the only one, the clan was so much more protective of him. She was no exception- if possible, she was more concerned than anyone but his mother. Wasn't it her job to be concerned? ”The clan is so low on food, that me eating isn't the most important thing. Besides, I ate earlier.” It hadn't been too long from her last meal. Not as long as the warriors in the clan. She could handle an empty stomach for a bit longer. But he didn't listen, and left the prey with her. Looking down at it, stomach twisting, but knowing she shouldn't-Flamekit- she padded out of her den, carrying it in her jaws, and padded towards the nursery. She quickly stuck her head in, before slinking the rest of her body after. She dropped it in front of the only queen and kit, and then started to pad out. Turning, she quietly spoke. ”Just don't tell Mouserun I gave you that.” She whispered to them, winking, before heading back to her den. She sat in front of it, acting as if she had just ate, licking her chops daintily, waiting for him to return. Hopefully he wouldn't bother her about it anymore...

"Morning Mouserun." the she-cat mewed in reply to her warrior. Her tabby tail curled around her front paws as the tom spoke. "I don't have anything for you to do at the moment." she turned her head towards the Medicine cat's den. "You can go. We need those herbs."

The steady rise and fall of his chest was the only hint that signaled Flamekit was still alive. His tail was laid gently over his nose as he slept peacefully beside the queen that had raised him since his first moon. She was not his biological mother, he was aware, but no one had any idea as to who his parents were. The thought that he was adopted troubled him somewhat, but he had grown to accept the fact and decided it shouldn't get in the way of his life.
Being a light sleeper, Flamekit stirred slowly as Snowfeather approached with some prey. Blinking sleepily, the little tom struggled to focus his vision. Once he yawned and stretched to his paws, the kit lightened up at the sight of the medicine cat. "Hi, Snowfeather," he greeted the she-cat. His eyes traveled to the mouse she held in her jaws. "Is that for me?" Padding forward, he waved his tail in a thankful manner. "Thanks! It's been a nice change eating real prey instead of milk these days - it's something different!" With a nod, he watched Snowfeather leave before bringing the mouse over to his foster mother. "Wanna share?" he offered, and the two ate in comfortable silence. After a few moments, he noted aloud a question that often ran through his mind these days: "I wonder who'll become my mentor when my warrior ceremony comes around!"

Mouserun nodded his head deeply to Duskstar. There was no need for him at the moment, and it was best he did go do something productive. Turning around slowly, he noticed that Snowfeather was sitting outside the nursery. Conniving little she-cat had already given away her prey to a large kit that was going to be an apprentice soon. Flamekit was going to have everything handed to him at this rate, but he would not interfere yet. Padding over, he rolled his long shoulders. "I am sure that Duskstar will choose a warrior capable of training you Flamekit. Now, I must steal Snowfeather to herb hunt. Shall will miss?" Those green gold eyes of his danced lightly in the thought of his own apprentice, but he would not have one any time soon. In the past, he had mentored before, only to watch his siblings perish alongside him. Briskly, he turned around and headed for the entrance. (Mouse and Snow will go to Terri after Fay and Snowy post I guess. )

Snowfeather noticed that the tom knew she had given the kit the prey. And what was so wrong with it? She had a fond spot for kits. Didn't most she-cats? Well, most she-cats were also allowed kits. She wasn't. Theoretically at least. The clan and Starclan won't allow it. But by laws of nature, you are. Why had she chosen to be a medicine cat? Why was she chosen instead of her sister? Brighttalon would have made just as great a medicine cat as her. Probably better, because she wouldn't have been tormented by a jealous sister. For one, her annoying you about you getting the job isn't your fault. It's hers. And also, maybe Starclan had known that she wasn't right. For one, she has a mate in another clan. That definitely wasn't going to work. Medicine cats weren't allowed mate at all, especially not from other clans. Stop berating yourself. You deserve this job fair and square. Mouserun had returned, and she slowly pulled to her feet, glancing back at the tom. He would make a great apprentice. “Off to collect herbs now?” She asked the warrior curiously. She padded towards the entrance, white fur gleaming in the early sun.

Flamekit's ears perked up at the arrival of another cat, and he was faintly surprised to see Mouserun, a successful warrior of a brave heart. The little tom flicked his ears in welcome, eyes widening slightly at the hinting of his soon-to-be mentor. "Really?" he mewed, eyes glistening with excitement. Grinning, he was a bit disappointed to see that Snowfeather and Mouserun were leaving him so soon, but he accepted it anyway, not wanting to be one to complain. "See you later!" he called out as the two went off to gather herbs.
